This is something I find a lot of webcomickers suffering from. It’s better to step back for a bit than to burn out. Your strips are always so fresh with the latest games and tech that moving to a seasonal approach, as some artists have could cause you to have to refocus on how you want the flow of the strip to go.
Many creators are treating their comics now like TV Series, they take a 2 to 3 month break, build up a really good buffer, then come back and let the strip run once, twice a week for 3 to 4 months, then step back and take a break again. This allows their buffer they built to do a majority of the work, but it does cause them to have those situations where they can’t make a joke based on trending items, unless they break up the story line and post something fitting for what’s going on. So it causes many Long Form comics to have to keep their story lines focused away from the outside influences.
Yours is a great structure in that you have an ongoing relationship with the characters, but like a Simpson episode each story line runs independent to a degree. I hope you are able to find a solution that brings the joy back to your work for you. I really enjoy your work and look forward to what lies ahead for you.

A huge congratulations on 300. You deserve a break after such a great run, and we’ll all be here eager to read what you come up with next, be it more Mojo or something else.
Mojo is a comic I have dug since I found it. It usually is on top of my queue of comics to read. Can’t wait to read the next 300!
Hi skar,
I’m a reader from Germany (sorry if my English is a little incomprehensible, I painted in the school subject rather than listening, and now have to use google translator ;))
Really, i like your mojo comics, but i have to say: think of yourself. Step back, find new energy/mojo. if you have taken some time with yourself and your family, you possibly came back an draw further or possibly you draw a new comic. it does not matter.
The first main thing is that YOU feels good.
And the second main thing is… that you come back some time 🙂
Perhaps your Comic has to.. grow. Like you 🙂 and your family.
kind regards!
JARoo
Hey Skar,
I like reading Mojo, but you are right, this should be fun, not a chore. Nothing wrong with taking a step back and come back when you are ready. Mojo and Merv will be there when you are ready.
